WASTE MANAGEMENT, RECYCLING AND PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT
At Medina, we have implemented a carbon, waste and water reduction strategy. We believe in protecting our environment by treating it with respect. All our departments have control measures set to reduce waste. Some of the measures include:
- All our cardboard and plastics are recycled.
- Left over cooking oil is collected monthly and recycled.
- 3 compartment meal trays are made using recycled content and are also fully recyclable. No single use plastic is used.
- We do everything in our power to make our difference in reducing the carbon footprint. We ensure our suppliers deliver ingredients in cardboard and blue food grade plastics so that they are easily recycled. We aim to follow the hierarchy of waste management which is to: prevent, reduce, reuse and recover.
- We have improved our supply chain to source more locally and within a smaller mile radius.
- Fish sourced is certified sustainable.
- We are constantly looking at new ways to reduce food waste and labour.
